Storytellers is a monthly showcase hosted by Mark Dubin & happening the first Monday of each month. Mark, aside from performing himself, will have a rotating group of the music scenes most popular & critically acclaimed singer/songwriters perform, away from their bands, and acoustically while sharing with the audience members stories & anecdotes about their songs.
How many times have you heard someone tell you the true meaning behind one of your favorite songs? Did it come as a surprise when you found out what it was? Were you close in what you thought it was about? Chances are, you were way off.
Songs are a bit of a blank canvas. When we hear a song, we tend to put our own perspectives into it. We assume placing words in a particular order spell out its exact meaning to everyone when, in fact, it doesn’t. We project our own selves onto those words and in our heads, we say, “Oh he loves her so much and can’t live without her” and in reality, the songwriter wrote about his dog passing away.
We kick things off November 6th for the inaugural run of Storytellers with Mark Dubin (the Hang Ups, Los Diablos, the Honest Liars), Pat Shaker (the Shakers, Boy Sets Table), Shayne Long (Davie) & Scott Crain (Fraud DeBussey, Monaco Slim)
